Terms of Service

Effective April 17, 2026

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and PaperFlip, LLC (“PaperFlip,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). They govern your access to and use of the PaperFlip website at paperflip.ai, our applications, and any related services (collectively, the “Service”).

By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility & your account

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service, and at least 18 to subscribe to a paid plan. By using the Service you represent that you meet these requirements.

You are responsible for everything that happens under your account. Keep your password secure, don't share it, and notify us promptly at hello@paperflip.ai if you suspect unauthorized access. One person may maintain one account; organizations should contact us for team licensing.

2. Subscriptions, billing & refunds

PaperFlip offers a free plan and paid plans (“Pro”). Current prices and plan features are listed on our pricing page. Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual) until you cancel.

Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not store your full payment card details. By subscribing, you authorize us (via Stripe) to charge your payment method for recurring fees, applicable taxes, and any overage charges you incur.

You can cancel at any time from your Billing settings. Cancellation stops future renewals — your paid access continues until the end of the current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial periods, unused portions of a subscription, or prior billing cycles, except where required by law.

If a payment fails, we may suspend your Pro features until payment is resolved. We may change pricing at any time; changes apply to future billing periods and we will give you at least 14 days' notice by email before the next charge.

3. Acceptable use

When using PaperFlip you agree that you will not:

  • Use the Service for anything illegal, harmful, fraudulent, or infringing.
  • Submit source material (YouTube URLs, PDFs, article URLs, or text) that you do not have the right to use for study purposes, or that contains malware, spam, or content that violates another person's rights.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or resell the Service, or use the Service to train a competing AI model.
  • Circumvent rate limits, plan limits, or authentication; probe for vulnerabilities; or interfere with other users' access.
  • Use the Service to generate or distribute content that is defamatory, harassing, sexually explicit involving minors, or designed to harm others.

We may investigate suspected violations, and we may suspend or terminate accounts that we reasonably believe violate these rules.

4. Your content & AI-generated cards

Your inputs stay yours. When you submit a YouTube URL, a PDF, an article URL, or text to the Service (“Your Inputs”), you retain all ownership rights you had in them. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, process, and transmit Your Inputs solely to operate the Service for you — for example, to extract text, call our AI provider to generate flashcards, and store the resulting deck in your account.

Generated cards. Flashcards produced by the Service (“Generated Content”) are yours to use, export, and study with. You are responsible for ensuring that your use of Generated Content does not infringe the rights of any third party, including the original source material.

AI disclaimer. Generated Content is produced by large language models and may contain errors, omissions, or misinterpretations. Do not rely on it for medical, legal, financial, or other professional decisions. You are responsible for verifying important information against the original source.

5. Our intellectual property

The Service itself — including our software, design, branding, and the PaperFlip name and logo — is owned by PaperFlip, LLC and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to use our trademarks or to copy, modify, or redistribute the Service.

6. Third-party services

The Service relies on third-party providers (including Anthropic for AI generation, Supabase for authentication and storage, Stripe for payments, Jina AI for article extraction, and YouTube for video metadata and transcripts). Your use of content retrieved from third-party sources (for example, a YouTube video) is subject to those third parties' terms. We are not responsible for the availability or accuracy of third-party services.

7. Service availability & changes

We work to keep the Service available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable to you for any such modification.

8. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from your settings page. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if continuing to provide the Service to you would expose us to material risk.

On termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and governing law) will survive.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error- free, secure, or that Generated Content will be accurate or complete.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will PaperFlip, LLC be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars (USD $100).

11. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless PaperFlip, LLC and its officers, employees, and contractors from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to (i) Your Inputs, (ii) your use of the Service, or (iii) your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or via the Service before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of the updated Terms constitutes acceptance of the changes.

13. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States of America, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. You and PaperFlip agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
